Raman spectroscopy: CHARISMA for oxides, plastics (by Miguel A. Bañares at Nanosafety Training School 2023)

Our project coordinator Miguel Bañares presented “Raman spectroscopy: CHARISMA for oxides, plastics” focusing on the following topics at Nanosafety Training School 2023 in Venice:

  • What nanomaterials structurally look like (i.e. oxides, some metal, e.g., silver)

  • XRD, XPS, Raman, infrared

  • What their surface is like, how reactive is the NM surface (reactivity, number and nature of surface reactive sites)

  • How multicomponent NM may have new properties that may not be the linear combination of the properties of components

  • Harmonising Raman spectra

  • Characterising micro-nano-plastics, how they transform in our bodies and how our bodies transform them
