Speakers

Miguel A. Bañares

Bañares is a Research Full Professor at the Institute for Catalysis and Petroleum Chemistry, CSIC. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of Catalysis Today (Elsevier, Impact Factor 5.825) and co-editor of Springer Handbook of Advanced Catalyst Characterization (2023). He obtained his PhD in 1992 (University of Salamanca). He was chairman of the Management Committee of COST Action D36 (ESF), 2006–2011 and is Vice-Chairman, Management Committee of COST Action TD1404 MODENA (ESF). He obtained a Doctor Honoris Causa from Université de Caen Normandie, France in 2017. He was deputy vice president of the Spanish National Research Council, CSIC in 2014–2015. He was awarded a “chaire d’excellence'' at ENSICaen-CNRS (FEDER) France, 2013–2014 and distinguished “Otto Mønsted Visiting Professor” award at the Denmark Technical University, DTU, in 2014. He was a Senior Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong, in 2018 and 2023. He is author/co-author of some 240 papers with an h index of 52.

María Fernández Álvarez

María Fernández Álvarez has a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2020). Since 2021 she has been working as a postdoctoral researcher in the Ceramics for Smart Systems group at the Instituto de Cerámica y Vidrio (CSIC). Her research activities primarily focus on the development of functional organic coatings and the use of Raman spectroscopy in different applications, such as the development of new reference samples and protocols for the standardization and harmonization of Raman measurements, studies related to Raman-luminescent effects and chemometrics. She has published 13 SCI peer-reviewed artic scientific les and 1 European patent application.

Enrique Lozano

Having worked in the analytical devices industry since 2007, Enrique has gained significant commercial and technical experience in laser-based instrumentation, its development and commercialisation, which together with his extensive scientific knowledge (PhD in Chemistry), led him to pursue his ambition of creating ELODIZ Ltd in 2012. His life, career and studies have spanned 2 continents, and it is reflected in over 40 publications, 2 patents.  Today, Enrique maintains a strong strategic direction and commitment to his business and its employees. Investing time in technological innovations, he continuously looks for ways to improve our products and services, so they exceed customer satisfaction and enhance their experience. Under his management, ELODIZ has become an integral member of the CHARISMA Consortium. 

Dirk Lellinger

Dirk Lellinger studied polymer physics with a focus on polymer physics at Merseburg Technical University. In 1992, he obtained his doctorate in the field of ultrasonic Fourier transformation technology. Since 1995, he worked at the German Plastics Institute (DKI) in Darmstadt as a research assistant. Following the integration of this institute into Fraunhofer LBF 2012, he is a research associate in the Material Analytics and Characterization Group of the Plastics Division. His fields of work are the physical characterization of polymer materials, the development of new physical measurement methods for laboratory and process including design, construction, software development and testing, as well as the development of analytical models and numerical methods for the description of polymer physical and chemical processes and for the evaluation of experimental data. 

Nina Jeliazkova

Nina received a M.Sc. in Computer Science from the Institute for Fine Mechanics and Optics, St. Petersburg, Russia in 1991, followed by a PhD in Computer Science (thesis "Novel computer methods for molecular modelling") in 2001 in Sofia, Bulgaria, and a PostDoc at the Central Product Safety department, Procter & Gamble, Brussels, Belgium (2002 - 2003) Her professional career started as a software developer first at the oil refinery Neftochim at Burgas, Bulgaria (1991 - 1995), then at the Laboratory for Mathematical Chemistry, Burgas, Bulgaria (1996 - 2001). She joined the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences at 1996 as a researcher and network engineer at the Network Operating Centre of the Bulgarian National Research and Education Network. She is founder and co-owner of Ideaconsult Ltd and is technical manager of the company since 2009. She participated in a number of R&D projects in Belgium and Bulgaria, authored and co-authored about 40 scientific papers in Bulgarian and international textbooks, as well as several book chapters. Nina received the Blue Obelisk Award in 2010 for achievements in promoting Open Data, Open Source and Open Standards.

Pablo Beato

Pablo Beato studied chemistry at the Philipps University Marburg (Dipl.-Chem. 2001) and obtained his PhD from the Technical University Berlin and the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society under supervision of Robert Schlögl. In 2005 he moved to the research and development department of the Danish catalyst producer and technology company TOPSOE, where he is still employed today. His core research expertise lies on the synthesis and characterization of micro- and mesoporous materials for applications in catalysis and separation, polyoxometalates as molecular precursors for oxides/sulfides in catalysis and energy applications and development of in-situ/operando spectroscopic tools to follow chemical reactions and the synthesis of materials. His technical experience in the field of industrial catalysis, ranges from chemicals over refinery to environmental applications, with focus on the development of catalysts for synthetic fuels production. He is an author and co-author of over 100 research papers in peer reviewed journals and contributed to several monographs (book chapters) related to material science and catalysis. He is also inventor and co-inventor of 13 different patent families.
